Putting innovation & intelligence at the service of impact effectiveness.

Today global companies invest over 1 Trillion dollars per year in social & impact related initiatives. Yet the gap between investments and results is growing. We are losing ground… It is absolutely critical to reverse this trend. More than ever, efforts and investments need to move needles on global sustainability challenges in our increasingly asymmetric and changing world. A new generation of bold thinking and evidence based impact solutions are thus absolutely necessary in order to drive forward a just transition.

A new generation of bold thinking and evidence based impact solutions

The Impact Company Lab was created exactly for this. Its objective is to rapidly build empirical evidence and forward looking best practices, to accelerate the impact of companies.

Co-founded with Schneider Electric in September 2023, the HEC Paris Impact Company Lab is a leading experimentation platform focused on concretely growing multi-national companies’ ability to drive a just transition in a rapidly changing world. It takes an integrated, innovative and future focused approach to the multi-dimensional ‘impact’ challenges that its’ partners are tackling.

This interdisciplinary approach enables more holistic understanding of impact driven strategies. This includes: listening to the voices of the places which have most at stake (megacities), leading human-centered engaged research that is both rigorous & relevant, creating experiential learning experiences that harness collective intelligence, focusing on collaboration and systemic value creation.

Part the HEC Sustainability & Organizations Institute, the Impact Company Lab thus forges the connections required to push forward new frontier knowledge & practices. As a result, it empowers its partners with thought leadership, tools to scale best ‘impact’ practices, & the ability grow the returns of impact investments.

The Impact Company Lab thinks, teaches and acts at 4 different levels:

Lab Learning Experiences

Novel immersive learning experiences designed to project participants into the future, bring the voices of the Global South to the center of sustainability-related thinking, planning and action.

Lab T.I.M.E.s  (Territorial Impact Multiplier Ecosystems)

Experiments that are designed to concretely build synergies between existing impact initiatives and anchor them in common hotspots.

Lab Clinics

Topical sessions that are focused on problem solving leveraging collective intelligence and hands-on learning.

Lab Experiments

Engaged research including scientific experiments (for example RCTs) design to test and evaluate the impact of specific company practices.
