Introductory conference
AI and robotics offer the promise of revolutionizing work by automating routine tasks and allowing us to devote time to more complex and creative pursuits.
The introduction will highlight some of the promises of AI and robotics, including an application of AI (neural nets) for measuring the novelty of over 7000 works of modern art. Yet, experts and lay folks are alarmed at the prospect of AI and robotics creating mass unemployment, amplifying social biases and invading our most private lives. The conference examines if these perils are a technological fait accompli? Or do these tools offer an opportunity to re-think the structure of our organizations, markets and government to create more meaningful work?
