A season of remarkable events for HEC North America Alumni

This fall was a busy season for the HEC Paris Office in the United States and alumni living on the East Coast. Over the past few weeks, they have been able to participate in key events for the HEC community: Eloïc Peyrache's visit and a gala dinner organized at the Museum of the City of New York, Amaury Ciurana (M20) receiving the Mercure Award in Boston and an important conference on the US presidential elections with French journalist Alexis Buisson in NYC.

In October, Éloïc Peyrache, Director General and Dean of HEC Paris, was in New York City with the HEC Foundation. A gala dinner was organised before the closing of a major HEC Foundation fundraising campaign, during which major donors learnt of the impact of their contribtuion. Another major highlight of this evening came from Matthieu, a Grande École student at the Permanent Mission of France to the UN for an internship, and recipient of a scholarship. He began his speech with this provocative Oscar Wilde quote: Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing” and successfully highlighed the importance of donations in his journey with HEC Paris. The evening was orchestrated by Vincent Muzelle, Director of the HEC Paris US Office, and held at the Museum of the City of New York.

The event recognized Amaury Ciurana, co-founder of REEV, for his innovative spirit, who received his award from Monique (Verrier) Mulkern, President of the New England Chapter. REEV provides solutions to people affected by neurological gait disorders after strokes, multiple sclerosis or paraplegia to overcome their daily disability by becoming more autonomous and independent in their movements.

Lastly, on the 24th an engaging event for the HEC Paris alumni community in New York featured French journalist Alexis Buisson, author of a compelling biography of Kamala Harris. The discussion, moderated by Marie-Barbe Girard (H.96), covered critical issues surrounding the upcoming U.S. presidential election. The event, held at La Maison Française of NYU, sparked lively exchanges and was followed by a reception allowing over 50 alumni to connect and network.
